The Altar is a piece of furniture used to make sacrifices on. This normally involved a lot of blood and that is why they preferred stone altars.
In churches the altar usually was the most important point in the church. It used to be placed at the back of the church in the middle. Nowadays the new folk altar is placed more towards the public. |
