At the end of the years 1980 the town of Ghent intended to group all its services. Although there were first talks about the neighbour of the town Hall, but finally the actual location was selected in order to relieve the towncenter.

The modern administation center is an idea of the study bureau of Geo & Dirk Bontinck. The use of so many glas is ment to be a symbol for the open mind of the town direction of Ghent.
