This town hall was built in 1949-1953 according to Frank Blockx' plans.

It replaced a 17th century towh hall, which was rebuilt in the 19th.

In the halls, there are remarkable statues, like 'Slave after punishment with sticks' by Victor Van Hove and 'Male Image' by Constant Permeke.
