Roosmalen house in ANTWERP 1 / ANTWERP

Arch. Architecten Werkgroep (AWG).

View from the quay

This building ( or should we call it a work of art) was made at a time when there was a lot of discussion about the neglected quais and the understanding between the town and the schelde streem. It was the intention to get the public attention for this problem. In 'attract the attention' has this special building realy succeeded. Another witness of the comeback of Antwerp to her streem is the Southern Terasse.

The stripe motive would come from a never realised draft of the archiect Adolf Loos for Josephine Baker from 1927. This building is from the hand of Architecten Werkgroep (AWG).

The building, that mekas one think of the cabin of a ship, has two appartements and one studio.
